#1 Post by saving private brian »

my last two sony cameras are ruined with sand and they were quiet expensive too.so i am not buying another to be ruined again

any one know of new cameras that are cheapish and have good picture quailty.

have being out the last two sessions with great success, including a new pb in a species which i never had caught on a west of ireland beach before and had no evidence to show fellow angler friends

any help will be appreciated

I have a galaxy s3 smartphone and as long as you get a decent cover it will give you great pictures as well as being rugged enough

try to find something like this Brian, total quality, I have one since years and it is fully waterproof, never has let me down: http://www.amazon.com/Fujifilm-FinePix- ... B001QENO6Q
bought mine on ebay from the states for about 70 quid, everything included.

just found one here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fujifilm-Wate ... 4d0b50fc7d
unsure it he wants to post to Eire, but well worth getting in touch with the seller about that I believe!

one of the cameras i use on the kayak is a fuji xp 150. i'd be surprised if you couldn't get one for under €100 now. sand proof, frost proof, waterproof to 15m and drop proof. the lcd screen on them isn't great but the picture quality is great when you upload the pictures to your computer - 14 megapixels. handy enough bit of kit, shoots hd movies as well if you need that

On a note of caution about the Fuji finepix camera, the side door to the battery sticks and doesn't close properly at times. You need to be real sure that this compartment is closed or secured properly. My own fault but I didn't double check to make sure it was properly closed when out on the kayak, got the camera wet and as a result its now worthless.

I have an old canon 2 meg camera for fishing and it refuses to die!it takes good pics with the flash at night I will miss it when it finally gives up!I've had two other cameras that went goo goo since that have never been brought fisisthing :-( I suppose like all things electronic it's 20% sensible choice and. 80% luck if it lasts more than a few years!
