lug casts at this time of year

#1 Post by blowin »

Would you expect to see something like the summertime number of casts at this time of year ?
I hope not because if you should it suggests that the red tide really hammered my local bed . Hardly any to be seen today .

I wasn't out to dig them BTW . Is this their breeding season ?

Doubt if it was the red tide? It depends on the weather conditions how many lug cast show. During or after a blow they can sometimes be hard to locate. It doesn't mean they're not there it just means that the casts have been flattened. When the tide starts pushing up the beach the lugworm become more active and more casts will appear.
Kstaff has always been the new black in my eyes anyway!!!!!!!

lug spawn in October. Many thing affect casts including air pressure and weather, both temperature and rain
