Big perch

I know this is a salt water forum but im want to try and catch a big perch this year but dont really know where to go anyone know anywhere that produces big perch and not more than an hour or so from dublin any help would be much appreciated plus any tips would be great thanks -Aaron

The guys on http://www.irelandscoarsefishing.com/ are very helpful so i'd try them.

There are some good threads on perch fishing with lures

river barrow is the place to go . and the canals that run of it when its flooding

Lough ennel and the inny in mullingar .I had a three pounder on the liffey a few years back
2013 species : coalies,flounder(pb),whiting,dogfish,5 beard rockling

Some very big perch in blessington but locating a shoal is a nightmare. Your best bet is the barrow @ athy but make sure you use a wire trace :)

Mepps vibrax or else floatfished worm baits in weedy margins .small deadbaits produce too

The lake is Donadea forest park has beasts in it,and no pike to prey on them. lobworm,2ft line- 2 SG shot..... simple,effective

Is it easy to get to through all the forest? And is the catch rate any good

Mepps in sizes 2 and 3 with the red speckles never fail. I've caught them on a feedshallow chartreuse and mullett when lookin for pike in the summer. For the size of them they fight like hell, try any sort of shiny lure and if they're about then they'll hit the lure. Anything from 4 to 20 grammes on a similar type of lure rod will do. I want to het them on the fly rod sometime for the craic.
