Oysters as bait?
has anyone got a say on this? i was given a batch of oysters from a friend and i took em to give em a lash, are they affective?

tried blown oysters a few years ago with different methods to keep them on the hook, frozen or fresh in a Dvice casting gadget, squashed into a mesh bag, even as combo bait tipped with mack or squid. Hooks were cleared after minutes with no bite indication, I suspect crab and fry being the culprits. They might work in a feeder cage however, purely as an attractant? Worth a try if you can get your hands on a good (free) supply?

not tried oysters but i have used scolops and got plenty on them ,use lots of bait elastic

Baiting needle and elastic and you'll be fit to present them no probs. Found them reasonable for flatties.
Sea Species(25) bass, codling, whiting, turbot, seatrout, stingray, pollock, coalfish, longspine scorpion, ballan wrasse, dogfish, ling, pouting, poor cod, dab, mackerel, smelt, sandeel, launce, bull huss, painted ray, thick lip mullet, golden grey mullet, rock goby.

Chance a bit of salt on them a few days before use.
Failing that i hear a guinness or 2 works well with them.
