8 strand braid for baitfishing
Just wondering is anyone using the more expensive 8strand braids for baitfishing. Be some job for a bit of distance im wondering though is there any disadvantage as regards using 3-4-5oz leads with the stuff sure its great flicking out 20g lures . Obviously im talking 30-40lb breaking strains
Species....good film.....I'll get my coat

Hey Sean i have used it in the passed and to be honest i went back to mono i found it hard to grip the lead .The rod tip used to be hopping all the time and found it to sensitive.Plus if you use a multi watch your thumb. But i know a few lads who use it and they think its fine sur give it a go and see how you get on

Re: 8 strand braid for baitfishing
i find the ordinary braid fine over clean ground ,but to be honest if your over mixed ground it just snaps every time it rubs on a bit of rough for more than a few min
you want a rod with a nice bendy tip if your surf fishing to stop the lead pulling out ,it has its uses for bait fishing ,i normally bring one reel with it on or a spare spool for the reel with it on ,can be good when the bass are nibbling instead of hoovering
i dont know if i,d be spending huge money on the 8 stand as i dont think your going to get that much more distance?
i use it on a multi but break it in on a fixed spool first ,i dont put my thumb on or near the spool till the lead splashes

Re: 8 strand braid for baitfishing
I would say it would be lethal on the fingers roger, i know theres a good 10yard+ improvement using 8 strand with the lures as opposed to cheap chinese braid my maths adds on 20+ yards with a beachcaster using 8 strand 40lb bs, clean ground of course. I switched from mono to braid a few years back and have no issues at all suppose i just got used to the nods
