Rock fish or rockies in north clare. Desirably known as carp rouge in parts of france.

Here on the Beara they are called Connors. Heard they used to catch them in the summer and salt them down for winter food. When i asked an old boy what they tasted like he said 's**te'
Freshwater fishing friend of mine calls them rock tench.
Live out on the beautiful Beara Peninsula. Always willing to assist visiting anglers.

In scotland wrasse are wrasse! But coalies are called saithe.

Strangford Wrasse = Wrasse, coley = blochan, pollack = lythe, flounder = fluke

Best is Butterfish = Peter nine eyes
