How to keep feet warm in waders

#1 Post by sparkey+1 »

Hi Lads

I know it might sound like a strange one but I have that problem... Take 3 changes of socks with me. 1 for when i get to the mark Then with the Thermals on put on thermal socks. At the end of our fishing session change over to dry sock to drive me and the lads home.... any ideas lads please was thinking of cotton socks inside te thermal socks. Herself went out and got me some memory insoles for the waders but they had a memory of a GOLDFISH

Any ideas WARMLY welcomed

Dave

a good pair of thick football socks or a ticker pair of termals scocks tog 4 or 5 should be ok or failing that do what bren does buy some of the disposable hand warmers from the camping stores and when you put the waders on crack the warmers and drop them down on top of your feet b4 closing the waders

If your wearing the rubber waders they arent goin to much to hold the heat but neoprenes and thermal socks should do the business . If your constantly in the water this will obviously freeze the beejaysus outa ya . Man up lol

most of the cold you feel comes up through the sole of your waders so the carpet will stop it,as your feet perspire they will get damp and feel cold ,ski socks will take the persperation away from your feet and keep them a bit warmer than layering several pairs ,its a problem that gets worse as you get older as your circulation isnt as good ,ya poor ould thing!

Unfortunately I can confirm that is true !
Put plenty of talc on your feet before you put on the socks , then do so again when you change them for dry ones .
Try to get socks which have a broad elasticated bit or "soft grip" at the top rather than the common narrow bit . If you see a mark around your leg when you remove the socks they will have been restricting your circulation .Stretch them before wearing and/or try tucking long johns into socks rather than socks into long johns.

I would pick up a pair of seal skin socks. Then put another pair of standard socks on under these. if your feet aren't warm theres no blood in you.

A 2-3 layer of clingfilm wrapped not too tightly on the bare foot before the socks works wonders :)
Species....good film.....I'll get my coat
