What is the best footwear for fishing off slippery wet rocks? I'm currently using cross-country hiking shoes and they just don't provide any grip on a wet surface; although ok when it's dry.
I'd get wading boots if they provide the most grip. Also do metal studs help or make you slip more?
Cheers

Re: Boots for rock fishing
I have felt sole wading boot and to be honest i would give them a miss this is only going from the boot i had before.Which was a rubber sole working boot cant think of the name of them .But found them much better than the felt sole boot plus with the felt boot walking on grass is like walk on ice at times but do the job fine while wading in water not so great on rocks..

Thanks lads for replies
I was considering these snowbee rockhopper wading boots. I'm mainly fishing rock marks that are easy to access and near to the water level , so lots of weed and slim to slip on.

Re: Boots for rock fishing
i use second hand paratrooper boots i bought in an army surplus about 6 years ago.perfect for the job.brilliant for negotiating or climbing rocks, water proof up to the ankle, easy to wedge your foot into tight spots with great grip and ankle support.the only flaw is the rocks chew up the soles,i've had them redone twice, but other than that they're excellent.

Re: Boots for rock fishing
I came across these studs when doing a bit of research.

They were recommended by henry gilbey's blog and could be paired a military boot

Has anyone tried the Bison Bearclaw boots yet? I'd love to know what they think of them.

I bought a pair of TF Gear Rockhopper boots earlier this year,a great boot in my opinion, good grip, good support and nice and warm on the colder days
