Going fishing, max of 1hr drive from Cork city?
Living in cork city, new enough to sea fishing, planning a trip to the beach this saturday any ideas/ takers?
2013 species: whiting, flounder, dogfish
2012 species: mackerels, pollack, dogfish, whiting, 1st and 2nd every bass(pb- 52cm)
, flounder, and an eel

Hi,
If i was you id be heading for east cork,the likes of garryvoe or ballywilling,i used to fish down there when i was in the navy,always a good place to go,garryvoe is easy to access as there is the car park close to the beach,i always had good luck by the pipe going into the sea.

youghal beach is always worth a go.
there is a competition on there saturday night where you will get tips off the lads if you have a chat with them

Anywhere around the harbour!ballycotton,east cork beaches ballycroneen ballbrannigan etc kinsale/garretstown burren pier etc etc.theres loads of spots.click on shore marks on the tab on the homepage of this website have a look at the cork section for Marks.depends how fast you drive aswell of course

Sure could you not make Dublin in that time
and fish the east coast great fishing here!!!!!!! thats why i drive all the way down south sick of catching good fish up here

Thanks for ideas. Dont like fishing in the harbour, gonna give youghal or garryvoe a go, got some smelly brinned mackerel to try, squid and sand eels and if i get up early some lug. Heres hoping..
