Best starter rigs??....

Hey all
I'm thinking about starting to make my own rigs so I might save a few bob!..I'm just wondering what you think would be the best starter to try??...
I know how a pulley is put together and the meaning behind it so was gonna start with that and tweak it for my own use...in theory a 2-3 hook flapper would be easy to make, it'd just be gettin the lengths of snood right etc. Paternoster easy too yeah??

So which do you think?..and has anyone got special personal rigs that u make yourself or even 'invented'??

I started with a two hook flapper and then adjusted it from there. I now fish from the kayak and use a modified flowing trace with size three hooks. Depending on the area and ground I may use beads or small reflector discs

i find 2 up1 down works well , orange beads or lumi stuff can be great or feckin horible but you have till try . i use a rig which looks thick an its won me a comp. or two so i tied 2 more . its a 3 hook flapperwith over ten beads on 35cm snoods on a 2mtr rig .
nothin better than catchin on a rig you made yourself.

Join a fishing club mate and you will learn loads. one of the most important things you will need to learn is how to tie knots.

adjustable 2 hook flapper is good starter rig. Use gemini neoprene tubing to create very simple adjustable stop knots to allow you to easily alter your rig.

alright i'll bite..
heres one i always use for clean ground fishing,its served me well.i kinda cross breeded a long and low with a sort of upside down pulley and it has great bite detection especially for flatties.the most important thing is knots.your trace will only ever be as good as your knots.
always wet them before locking/sliding them into place so that you dont friction burn the line,causing it to weaken.be wary of over crimping too if your not using a crimping pliers.always test your knots before using your newly tied rigs,especially your weight clip knot if the trace has one.check after using too for rugged or torn snoods and trunks..
like the lads were sayin it gives a greater sense of accomplishment and general buzz to landing fish when you've tied the rigs yourself.
