New Rod Help !!

#1 Post by seanbah »

Hello, stopped fishing there for about a year used to be big into it competitions and stuff but recently iv got back into it and im looking for a new rod, rod i use now is a penn outasight i have it about 3 years but its getting a bit soft for me now, so im looking for a decent rod willing to pay good money, i need in the rod a good balance between a strong rod that would handle being smacked 150+ yards with a pendulum cast but would be decent for match fishing to bite detection and that, reel i use are a 525 mag and a 6500 abu, so any ideas anyone thanks.

I had the super match extra but at 14ft10 i thought it was a little too long for me and i wasnt mad about it. I swapped it for the internatitnal match which im more than happy with. The extractor would be better suited to long range fishing or slightly heavier ground.

Hi I would agree with the Ian golds range .
I bought a extractor a year ago and could not fault it I was so happy with it that I spent about seven months trying to locate a second . Since buying them i have sold my century and Zipplex rods I know that shankill angling have some of the range in stock

Always go for the best you can afford. All the usual suspects (Zziplex, Conoflex, Century etc) are of the highest quality and while people think they are expensive, you get what you pay for. Make sure you shop around regarding price as it can vary wildly from shop to shop. Personally I've always been a sucker for the very top end of the Daiwa range. I still use the Tournament X I bought a few years and I can't speak highly enough of it. It's outstanding. Try arrange a session with a few lads or a club and have a cast of different rods with a reel you're used to. It's the only way to find out what suits your physical capabilities. No point buying a big strong rod if you can't use it.
