Rough ground marks ???

#1 Post by Waterwizard »

Hi lads thinking of trying a rough ground mark on my next outing. I have fished this area many times but only on lure and have got some nice bass over the years. This venue is fairly rough few patches of sand mostly kelp beds and a few channels running in towards the shore. I know tackle loss will come but hopefully so will the fish. What I'd like 2 know has anyone tried this with any luck and what kind of tactics should I go for ?

if its bass your after try freeling a live peeler. no weight is used. all you need is 20/25 pound main line. attach swivel then hook lenght then single 4/0 hook. you will be surprised how far you can cast this. if its distance your after you will have to use a rotten bottom set up where just the lead is lost and not your fish or rig.

im currently gearing up now for the rough meself this week,,,so that means uping everything for the bigger prize.hooks, line strenght on reel,,,shockleader,,,rig strength,,snood strenght etc,,,,,rottom bottom is a must and i picked up spme 6lb omni line the other day,,,,either turn over some bent link clips ( http://www.gerrysfishing.com/gemini-gen ... nal-tackle ) at your rig end for handy rottom bottom set up.this way with the link upside down now gives u a place to hang your weight when casting,,,,,,,,,,,and i use these for holding the bait http://www.gerrysfishing.com/breakaway- ... nal-tackle ...i find this the handyiest

now theres other ways of doing this with a loop at the rig end and a bit of copper to hold the weight and bait, crimp the bit of wire on the weight and make a bent link,,,and with your weak wire which will be linked to the rig end and weight,,,well now put the bent wire into the loop(which will hold the weight for casting),,,and put your pulley system bait now onto the wire aswell,,,,,works well too just bring strong copper wirre ,,,,oh and a good decent pliers if doing it this way

hope you catch me clear
