It's my last year in Ireland . We're determined to make the most of the time left and try to visit the country as often as we can. Next on our list is Donegal for this bank holiday weekend. The route isn't set yet, but Donegal bay and Donegal West are on the radar.
I'm not looking for a specimen catch, just a reasonably reliable and rather safe mark, to have a change of scenery. I will just have few hours : it will be a sneaky session while the little fellow is having a nap !
Any recommendations for a local bait/tackle supplier are welcome. By the way, what bait is most productive this time of the year over there ?
well lad it depends where ya go ! start in bundoran and call into see sean carty @ land and sea sports he's a great lad an won't send you wrong .bait i use is mack an lug it works for everthing . if you around the killybegs side of bay fintra for flounder . good fishin
Swilly gave a few thornies on Sunday...got them off the lighthouse but rathmullan pier might throw up a few headin into darkness
John in swilly angling will sort ye out with bait..
Quick feedback : didn't had a chance to check the tackle shops, so I brought my trusty rags from Dublin and picked a beach on the Killybegs side of the bay. It was the Silver Strand, near Malin Beg. A beautiful small bay with a waterfall and sheltered from the wind. We had the entire beach just for us. The sand was perfect for building a sandcastle. This kept us warm and the little fellow busy. Ah, and for the fishing, it was rather quiet : I caught a flounder. Well, the tide wasn't right and I was casting too far anyway. Still, it was a nice day out.
Thanks again for your replies, even if I didn't use the information.
