Weather: Friday & Saturday Light W winds. Sunday strong N winds with sunshine

Saturday : Dogs, flounder, Coalies, Pollock, pouting, whiting
Sunday: Plaice, Flounders, Coalies

Report[/b]: 2 competitions were oragnised for the weekend. With that in mind 4 of us headed down on Friday to see what beaches might be fishing. First stop was a beach that was reliable for bass and flounder. We fished for 3 hours in the afternoon without the bait being touched   . Then later we fished another beach from 8pm-1am. A bit more surf would have been favourable. Joe caught 2 nice schoolies in quick succession :D :D while the rest of us caught a dog or flounder.

Things looked good for Saturday night. Fishing was from 9pm-2am. The surf was minimal and so the chances of a bass were slim. Dogs, flounder, coalies, pouting and whiting were caught :D :D :D . The best was Graham with a flounder, a dog and a coalie. No great fishing but at least some decent fish showed up compared to the miserable tiddlers on the East coast.
Sunday started with a biting Northerly wind and plenty of sunshine….the worst possible conditions. I selected a beach with a bit of shelter and a small possibility of some fish. Being honest I didn’t expect fish to be caught.

Within 2 minutes Jim had a nice flounder and another just after that :D :D .

Donal then followed with 2 flounders and a coalie.

Flounders up to 42cm were caught.

I managed 2 very nice plaice :D :D ….a species that I haven’t caught for years. Some good coalies also showed up. Overall this was a successful competition despite the adverse weather conditions.

Fresh crab was the only bait taken. Lugs & rags disappeared as soon as they hit the water. 1 of the lads had frozen crab & it was ignored totoally. Even the local crabs ignored it :!: :!:
