east cod

hi lads going to make an attempt to catch my first cod from (shore) this winter could anyone tell me a few spots to try by pm i dont want to go any further than courtown beacause of petrol and that as close dublin if possible thanks

Bray greystones kilcool Newcastle Wicklow arklow. They are your best spots you can catch codling up and down the east coast the hard bit is getting the big lads

You can catch codling of howth pier. There is a big bad brown sign pointing to it. I've seen lads take a fair few out at one session in early September. Maybe give it couple of weeks after the northerlys return.

I've caught Cod at Dollymount, seriously. The Wicklow beaches are a great place for getting Cod but the days of the biggies are long gone. I remember a 22 pounder taken from Ballygannon in a competition one freezing January night many moons ago. Now, a 2 pounder would have a nice smile on my face. I've caught Cod everywhere along the East coast over the years. I'd say anywhere you try will produce fish.
