hi lads, just wondering if anyone fished st patricks bridge in kilmore? and does it get covered by an incoming tide?

would only chance fishing on that with a local who knows the spread of the tide well

I've fished it and I reckon it's one of the most dangerous marks in the country if you're not 100% switched on. Wear a lifejacket. Seriously. Have a local who knows it with you, and heed his advice.

He means dangerous,
the spit goes a long way offshore, it is kelpy, rough, and the tides here are very unpredictable and strong, either side of the spit is deep water, so if swept off you will be swept away from shore very quickly.
We have been called to many incidents involving the bridge, fortuanetly only boats going aground , we patrol the area on a regular basis, and as yet i fortuanetly not seen anyone trying to walk out on the bridge, please do not be the first!!
if your looking for bass, try forlorn point, its a good safe spot to fish from.
as a footnote as mentioned by a previous post, if rock fishing wear a lifejacket, it will save your life if an accident occurs
