knockadoon? anybody?

#1 Post by lucky13 »

just a quick question, anybody ever fished ring strand in knockadoon by the coast guard building?
gave it 3 sessions and white washed each time...looked a great beach to fish, the only problem i suffered was the churning sea bed swallowing my bait and weight even at a good distance cast...
any ''been there done that'' info appreciated...
cheers :)

Landscape screams bass and mullet but cos its east facing (at least if its the one I'm thinking about) means it won't get teh warmth or the nutrients needed for bait that the bass will eat. It also deosn't get much surf.
Makes it good area for oysters :) but not bass ;)

I dived there for 4 hours a few years ago in good visibility and saw 1 dogfish. Quite a few crabs there as it happens, but not much fish.

cheers for the info donnyboy..knockadoon strand itself is east facing, and as far as i know throws up a couple of bass every now and then(i'm told)but the smaller beach by the coastguard building is facing north, with a small surf that turns the sea bed like a plough...your dead right tho it does scream bass country...nice to hear from a lad that has witnessed the seascape first-hand...
dont think i'll give it another go now...maybe just 1 more sesh... :)

Never caught anything there but I do find it a good spot to walk during low tide, usually throws up a few weights/traces. From this I gather someone fishes there fairly often...
