Mackeral/Pollack in Dingle.

I'm staying in the Skelligs Hotel this Saturday night. Are there any marks near the hotel worth trying for mackeral and pollack on feathers/hockeyes/lures ? I'm not going to bring much gear but might throw in a rod, reel and some feathers and lures. Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Hi Ivan if u head to Brandon pier there is plenty of mac on hi water also conger just over the back wall

Thanks Paul. I'll see how far it's from Dingle. I won't have a lot of spare time as it's a family thing so the closer to Dingle the better. I read something a few years ago about a mark near the lighthouse which isn't too far from the hotel.

Follow the walkway out to the light house. Ye can climb down the rocks at front of light house. Really deep water. I had some good pollock there over the years. Chance of mack too. Fishin in the bay on the way to light house can throw up thorn back ray and dogs and in the harbour itself ye can get conger in the dark.

There's loads of Pollack all around those rocks at the lighthouse. Dingle is carpeted in Thornbacks but the rocks can be tricky so be careful. If there's Mackeral about then the best way to catch them imo is on the float at the end of the pier. Use small hooks and you'll connect wit Garfish as well. Try this method off the rocks as well, I've had Pollack to 8lb from that lighthouse over the years (although they do seem to be getting progressively smaller over the years). There was very little Mackeral activity in Caherciveen a couple of weeks ago but hopefully this spell of calm weather will have brought the shoals in.

Thanks for the help lads. Would love to fish for those thornies but can't bring all the gear...bait, tripod etc has to be left at home so it's 1 rod and a few lures, hockeyes and feathers. Looks like I might squeeze a couple of hours in near this lighthouse.
