Hi folks,
Will probably be heading to Achill Island this Tuesday for a few days camping. Hoping to get some fishing in, when i can get away from herself and daughter:):p
Just wondering how is it fishing? Il be going after mack and pollock. Il be staying in Keel, but id say its over fished around that area what with the campsite etc?
Any help or info at all would be great to improve my chances of a fish or two:)
Thanks,
Dusty.

Re: Achill Island
Hi Dusty
I think you will find that the red tide has cleared -it has in Clew Bay so it should be well gone around Achill.
Mind you its pissing down here for the last 36 hours so it probably gonna be wet - I would stick to rock marks to avoid the run off from streams. Its bound to keep the fish offshore around the beaches although I got some nice flounder on Keem a few weeks back.
Word is there are lots of sea trout about so a trip up to the bulls mouth might be worthwhile if you have any frozen, fresh or ideally live sand eels. Use them on a long piece of flouro behind a bubble float, hooked through the snout and tied on with a few whips of elastic. The other spot to try this tactic is nearing low water under the fish factory on Achill Sound. And if you dont get a trout, you can watch the otters catch them instead!
