lads could anyone out there point me in the right dirction of furlongs rd beach all i know is its down by the burrow strand but i dont know were and does it need a surf to fish and what stage of the tide is best

This was one of the area's best-kept secrets for many years, but since holding a few club competitions here, it has grown in popularity over the last two years.
It is a deep-water beach and with an on-shore breeze good surf is always likely. Bass are always on the cards here and they have been caught throughout the year. In the summer, dogfish, flats are the target species, while smooth hound and ray can appear. In the winter months, whiting, codling, coalfish and flats are most numerous. This is a lugworm beach, but crab and fish baits will work well.

Recommended rig.
As the Burrow Shore and Furlongs Road are only a half-mile apart rigs will be very similar.

Again lots of coalies, whiting and small pouting, some flounder and the occasional bass. We held our first comp here recently and it was magic, everyone had a great night testing their skills against the resident coalie population. There were several fish around the 40 cm mark; Myles Howell won the big fish pool with a 46cm coalfish.
