Bin needed at rathmullan pier!!

#1 Post by mackfish »

Well lads...I was just wondering if any of you know what would be the best way of gettin a bin put somewhere that it's needed!!...
I fish rathmullan quite a lot but everytime I go there, I end up coming home with pockets full of trash as there is no bin at the end of the pier!!..there also bes a lot of rig wrappers and old libe lying about, as well as empty cans and food wrappers...the rest of the bins are being used so I'd guess that if one was put at the head of the pier, it would be used as supposed to chuckin rubbish elsewhere...it can get quite blustery down there and
more often than not, rubbish ends up in the water too!!....

Is contacting council the way to go??
sure, its not raining between the showers!

Hi Mack, the kind of people who leave crap lying around like that are liable to do it anyway regardless as to there being a bin there or not. Its a shame, I know exactly what you are talking about, I've seen it there myself. Careful though, ringing the council and complaining about it may be counter productive, some bloody bright spark might just hit on the idea of banning anglers from it.
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial :D

yeah i hate to say it but i agree with the poster above. littler bins won't solve anything. proper anglers bring their rubbish home with them. louts will litter regardless of their being a bin present or not. sad but true.

Very hard to find a bin in Donegal at any fishing mark. I usually stop of at a bin on my way home with rubbish. Not ideal with smelly wrappers etc, the bag might leak juice in the car. :x

Have to agree with previous posts. Local pier beside us has a bin which dirt bags will rest thier rods on but they still havent worked out how to put cans, wrappers, line etc etc in the hole just above where thier reel sits. I put up a rant about litter this time last year, nothing changes!

The last thing you want is the local council thinking there is a litter problem it would be easier for them to ban fishing than put up a bin,we just have to clean up for ourselves and others Unfortunatly ,thread carefully anyway the last thing we want is some jobsworth tapping u on the shoulder telling you to clear off or else.....
