Re: vhf...
I have never had a problem with my Icom. I hear no complaints about the Cobra and it is well priced:

Story man
Theres a secondhand Floating, submersible, 5 watt Icom M33 for sale on adverts. They're a quality set and its in Crosshaven. Asking 140 EURO.
I have an old Icom fixed set you can borrow to get ya going if you are putting it in a boat. There's also an old Sailor set in the shed, complete with Telephone receiver mic, retro chic or wha ??

They are indeed. Solid, reliable set. About the size of a rolls royce tooJimC wrote:The Sailors are regarded as the Rolls Royce of VHF's.

i'd definatly want a fixed set, although that icom would be deadly for our adventures fightin the tide on the dinghy
that sailor bad boy sounds the sh#t
but i must make up a unit to take all the electrics and integrate the radio so i think i'l just dig out the bobs and buy one and lob it in...nice wan tho lad...you should defo hook up the sailor for at home, would be the job
hey man if that east wind changes would ya be up for some huss on the low tonight?

Re: vhf...
Im on my third Cobra at the moment with no complaints at all, also had an old one replaced a few years ago completley free of charge something to do with not been upto comreg standards or something like that even though the radio worked perfect :?i have also had a silva nice radio but much more complicated to use and an older icom. for simplicity it's cobra all the way
The other plus is that Cobra europe are based in Dunlaoghaire south Dublin
