Eddie how are things all is well hope to see you in october :D Private ryan has it spot on which is a shame but that is the way it is. I have to agree with beachbuddy too many self glorifacation stories on this site which are doing untold damage to fish stocks and all for what :!: :!: call me old fashioned but what i believe is go out meet the lads catch a few fish enjoy the day that should be enough but alas it seems not the case

f@#king hell lads,i dont claim to be any sort of expert, but i have been fishing for personal enjoyment most of my life.not for ireland, the uk or any club.and im not trying to rub anybody up the wrong way.in the end of the day,its was a simple question...to which was taken up the wrong way.blown up like a balloon.
and yes i do know how much a specimen thornie and blonde ray have to weigh...
all in all, opinions are like assholes everybody has one.
i genuinely didnt mean any harm by asking, and to be honest if i knew it would have offened pple i wouldnt have asked.i thought that was what this forum was for.thank you to the lads for the thanx...and the pm's...

What an over reaction to a simple question the poor lad didnt ask for marks all he did was ask if fish were showing in a general area . no one would get the reaction he got if the asked were the cod at the wall . keep marks to yourself no probs but a simple yes no answer to the question is only simple manners . a bit over the top reaction lads

I think people have got to understand its not the simple straight to the point question that was initially asked[read start of post], that has ruffled feathers .What has gotten under a lot of our skins is the way a good friend and well respected angler has been called names[easy to do over the computer]and the smart arse tones used through out the post.
This post also shows how people from differant areas of the country view things. Those in the vicinity [in the know ] and how people who are'nt local[not in the know] see things.

In fairness, Lucky13 was only enquiring if they were being caught. I've fished with the same lad a good few times and he has great respect for - and knowledge of - conservation, the sea and all aspects of the sport we are all passionate about. While I would fully agree with the sentiment of protecting these impressive fish, I doubt any mack basher/bucket-filler/borderline poacher would even know of the existence of Gilthead bream let alone bother attempting to target them. :)
