hi lads,
i have an older greys 300T rod which measures 28.2mm on the outside diameter, this includes shrink wrap - i am on the hunt for a moveable reel seat, does any one know of what i could use.
i use this rod with a 535 mag and i find that the penn has a rounded reel foot so coasters just dont seem to cut the mustard when hauling heavy fish, the reel slips around and i'm scared i'll crush the blank if i tighten them any further - i should mention these are the plastic breakaway coasters, i much prefer stainless steel ones but ideally i would like a griplock type reel seat.
your opinion would be appreciated.

Re: Big reel seats
dave a 28mm reel seat should go on with a bit of work and will be a tight fit on the rod which is what you want.if the 28mm reel seat doesnot go on then you may have to remove some shrink tube fit reel seat and then replace the shrink tube.a 30 mm reel seat will need packing out if you want to go that way mate.

Re: Big reel seats
thanks bud, i've tried the abu grip locks at 28mm but the actually measure 27.8, i know half a mil doesnt seem much but i just get it on, tried washing up liquid and all. even rub the shrink tube down a bit. then i tried an imax one, no joy either.
who makes a 30mm?? i cant seem to find a suitable one??
i really want this to be a moveable one - i use this rod for rough work and keep the grip up but i like to practice my casting reel down with it too - i may have to bit the bullet and remove some shrink tube to get one to fit.
