King mac fishing in florida

Hi Im heading over to florida next month and I hear it good for king mac fishing that time of year and I hope to do some spinning off the pier. Any one have any idea for types of lure i ccould get over here or there to use??

I've only ever used bait for these, never spinning. You need pretty heavy gear too - think 15lb mackerel with teeth! These are not the sweet little things you get here, but much closer to barracuda.

Yea I can wait to go over and try and get one was like a kid jumping around when I heard they were in next month was out on the pier two years ago and its great for fishing got lady fish,, shark and, spanish mac. Ive got a saltist 5000 so that should handle it when it runs. What did you use as bait when you were fishing for them??

I caught small little things from the pier using what was essentially a ribbon with loops of wire. The bait fish got their gills caught in the loops - basically a gill-net on a jig. The locals used one rod to hold the bottom, wiht the bait on another rod, held onto the weighted line using a breakaway. Quite an odd method, but it works.
