Baitcasting Reels
Are baitcasting reels hard to use? Are they better for lure fishing than fixed spools and what would be a reasonable one to start with? Thanks

Re: Baitcasting Reels
They need to be used with a bait caster rod. They are prone to birds nests with any other type of rod
I don't fish to catch fish. I just like using the gear.

Re: Baitcasting Reels
ive just gotten my first multi a week or so ago after a lot of research and 2 kept on coming up reccomended either a daiwa slosh 20 or penn 525.i went for the slosh and it set me back 100.i havent been out much but practicing with it on dry ground first helped a lot,i found it a lot easier to get used to than i had imagined!the first time i went fishing with it no problems at all. a msall bit of getting used to but it is not rocket science.use it during the day aswell starting off and if you want to get a bit of practice in ,find a place where you have the freedom and saftey to cast a lead (slit tennis ball insert the lead then)

Re: Baitcasting Reels
Cool, thanks guys. I was thinking something more like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Abu-Silver-Ma ... 973wt_1163 for short range lure fishing as opposed to long range casting. Might stick with the fixed spool for now.
