Getting a trailer built?

#1 Post by Donnyboy1 »

Does anyone know anyone that can build me a trailer frame in Cork?
Preferably able to have it galvanised also.
I'm also looking on done deal etc. but there are not a lot of quality ones...
Its for an 18ft orkney type fishing boat.
Entries now open for the All Ireland Shore Cod Championships on November 29th hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC

How ye. Tried to buy a trailor on Done deal and from north meself. Worked out too expensive. don't know anyone in cork but a mate of mine in Kildare is building me a new trailer at minute. I bought hubs and wheels in scrap yard and rollers and winch, hitch etc. from marine direct and steel from heitons. Total cost won't b any more than 650 euro by time I'm finished including me buying primer and hammerite paint. Might b worth while buyin stuff yourself and gettin a welder to put it together for ye. Everything can be built around your boat this way too. Hope this helps

Makes perfect sense!
I just want a frame, axle, tow hitch and wheels.
I'll add the winch and rollers myself. I have a local fabricator pricing it for me, but he says it shouldnt be that much really. I'll put up the details when / if I get it done as your options are really only spend a fortune on a new one or take a chance on an old one!

There's got to be a start-up business idea in there somewhere for some lad who's handy with a welder, got a big enough shed in the backyard and has a few contacts in the boating community.
