hi all,
just looking for some advice about fishing in greystones as ive never been before..
im heading up there tommorrow evening(mon 19th) and am unsure weather to fish on the beach ar the pier.
Im only fishing since last year and am sick drawing blanks...spent a lot of time in laytown last summer hunting bass without any success.
so i know i may not get the same fish/size from the pier as from the beach but im more concerened about catching something rather than going home empty handed again.
I have mackrel and muscles for bait which brings me to my next question... id like to get my hands on some rag/lug but with tomorrow being a public holiday will anywhere be open??
any help much apprieciated and ill pop back online tuesday to report any bites(fingers crossed)
cheers
tom

dont think you will get anywere open 2moro but mack seems to be working well from the harbour at the moment plenty of small fish being caught pollock, codling, pouting, whiting, dogs
scorpion fish, rockling, and the odd flounder use mini rigs with size 4 or 2 hooks and you should have a good day best of luck and by the way you dont need to cast far as the fish are close to the wall anywere between 15 & 40 foot out will do

i was only out there yesterday checking out the new pier to have a look an it doesnt seem too impressive to fish at all id maybe try the north beach far down it near the rocks or up the south beach the far end near those rocks

the new pier seems to be producing a few fish alright but id say if theres a few there before you be a night mare retrieving a fish or your rig back over those blocks

Re: greystones pier or beach??
Hi, we went out on Monday nite from bout half 6 till 11.
We got 10 fish between 2 of us. The bites started wen it got dark .and we got the majority of the fish between 9 and 10.30(not sure if its relevant but high tide was 10 pm).
Most of the fish were pretty small but was nice 2 get something all the same.
as far as we were told we got: Coley, Pollock, 1dabs and 1 codling all using mackerel on size 2 hooks.
Thanks everyone for the help.
