Dig me some bait

#1 Post by Eddiewamblambbam »

Hi all,

Bit of a beginner when it comes to diggin for lug/rag. was hoping to head out diggin for some bait maybe early Saturday (Paddys day) but it being a festive day and I have a very important appointment with a publican it might turn into Sunday but with the bank holiday i hope to fish Monday,

With low tide ealy on sat/sunday morning I was wondering where is a good spot to dig for lug around dublin ? Living in tallaght so any ideas ?

I heard sandymount is good, and i know how to get to sandymount village but where do i go from there ??

Any ideas/directions would be much appreciated !

Cheers Eddie

ya mate sandymount is good for bait but you have to go the far side of the village as if you were heading for poolbeg when you get down to the e.s.b on the coast rd park up at the start of the road just after you come under the berrier and walk out about 200 yards towards the first stream and you will see all the lug cast in the sand and anywere around there you will get enough worms for a session in about 30/45mins but they are deep about 2 fork lenghts down hope this helps a bit

Hi everybody,

I'm also considering digging for lugworms in sandymount beach. I live there and I noticed plenty of casts in front of the martello tower, about at halfway the strand road. However, I think I've seen nobody digging there, nor a trace of a hole in the sand... Isn't it a right place ? May it be somehow illegal ?
