Changing Hook Type on Lures (Treble to Single)

Any advice out there on what size single hook suits a certain lure, I want to change the trebles on Maria Viva Parade Lures 21g and 28g versions.

I shall be targeting Sea trout with these lures and also want to avoid snags.

I've noticed a few lads changing to singles on their lures, is it of much benefit aside from making it easier to get the fish unhooked easily and without causing much harm?

Treble Hook Advantages
With three hooks, chances are better of hooking a fish on a treble hook. Some trebles are even offset so the hook rotates when a fish bites in order to bury at least one more barb in the fish.

Treble Hook Disadvantages
When more than one hook buries in a fish, removing the hook can be difficult. Treble hooks have greater potential to harm fish than single hooks, which is especially undesirable when an under-sized fish is caught or when catch-and-release fishing.

Single Hook Advantages
Some claim a single hook penetrates better than a treble hook because it is thinner in diameter. Single hooks are also less noticeable to fish.

Single Hook Disadvantages
Hooking fish can be more difficult with single hooks, especially when live bait fishing when the bait covers the hook, making it more difficult to set the hook into a fish.

Apart from diving plugs, I have changed all other lures to a single hook.
I am targeting bass only, and they have such large mouths I have noticed no difference, if anything I catch more compared to other anglers fishing with me. Much easier to unhook and release the fish. Too often in the past I have struggled for a while trying to get trebs out of a fish mouth. I once returned a sea trout that I caught with a trebble, and its mouth was such a mess it was nearly more humane to kill it. Plus it was out of the water for a while as I tried to free the hooks. Each to their own n all that but personally I would reccomend it.

Last year I put size 1/0 Decoy pluggin singles on all of my sub-surface lures e.g. Feed Shallow, Zonks, X-140's etc. I just use the one size to try and keep it simple and the 1/0 seems fine. In general I find the singles brilliant and can never see myself going back to trebles. I haven't missed any more takes than when using trebles and if anything my hook up rate has improved. Not to mention the fact that unhooking is far easier. In my opnion single hooks are better for the fish and better for the angler. Less tangles in the tackle bag too!
