i cast off the ground with grippers without any problem just be carefull when you lay the lead down, you can set it down gently then let out more line afterwards just dont use a low arc and you should be ok

you can do an off the ground style with the lead up off the ground

so to speak, shorten your drop enough to get your right arm up high and start the cast in the same position as you would an off the ground you will lose a few yards but having a shorter drop will load the rod quicker and your body rotation will be the same as the otg ,added 30 or 40 yards to my overhead thump
