Re: Big Flounder
in an estury i'd use peeler crab and lug may outfish rag on particular beaches and vice verca tipped off with mackeral or squid.... i find maddies are better for attracting the smaller flats.

Yeah ive been using small bits of mack on size 4's and getting plenty of small ones, had one 31cm today on lug tipped with mack, im trying to get one 40+, fingers crossed. Cant get my hands on any peeler at the minute, do you use blades on your traces at all goldfish?goldfish17 wrote:in an estury i'd use peeler crab and lug may outfish rag on particular beaches and vice verca tipped off with mackeral or squid.... i find maddies are better for attracting the smaller flats.

Re: Big Flounder
A few caught on tullan 2 weeks ago up to the 40 mark during a comp. Traces varied from bare to Christmas trees but the black wrap and mac seemed to be the scoring combo alright

Re: Big Flounder
What weight would a45cm flounder be?? He'd have to be near 3lb and as thick as a box of fags.

Re: Big Flounder
when i began fishing i used to use blades on the snood... but i stopped and i cant say it made any real effect... they just cost more money.. i do use a luminous floatin bead on the bottom snood (which i make atleast 20 inches long ) i find flounder love it as it adds movement to the bait.... but id concentrate more on matching the bait to the venue then blinging up the snoodsbasshunter10 wrote:Yeah ive been using small bits of mack on size 4's and getting plenty of small ones, had one 31cm today on lug tipped with mack, im trying to get one 40+, fingers crossed. Re: Big Flounder
yeah i use the tronix beads aswel but on the top snood and it will be the one taken most times, your right about the blades i think you'll get fish regardless, good to hear other peoples opinions on it, cheers ladsgoldfish17 wrote:when i began fishing i used to use blades on the snood... but i stopped and i cant say it made any real effect... they just cost more money.. i do use a luminous floatin bead on the bottom snood (which i make atleast 20 inches long ) i find flounder love it as it adds movement to the bait.... but id concentrate more on matching the bait to the venue then blinging up the snoodsbasshunter10 wrote:Yeah ive been using small bits of mack on size 4's and getting plenty of small ones, had one 31cm today on lug tipped with mack, im trying to get one 40+, fingers crossed. Probably 2.5lb... maybe a touch more. The Flounder are just starting to feed heavy in preperation for their spawning migration in Feb / March. I weighed a 47cm fish on Sunday. It was 2lb 10oz.

Re: Big Flounder
It was the biggest one I'd seen up close... Cracking fish. Was actually a little lean. I would say the same fish caught in Feb would be 3.5lb easy. Same guys got a 54cm fish from the same spot a few years ago... Now that's a Flounder
