New boat rod

Can anybody tell me the difference between a boat rod and an uptider boat rod?
Cant find much help on the net.

Boat rod is shorter and not for casting (fishing over the side)
Uptide rods are longer and for casting light leads up tide and away from boat..

Cheers, think im gonna go for it.. Could be handy for congers off the shore as well.
