Cod with soft plastics.
Have been catching a few cod with bait around east cork which is great but was was wondering can they be caught using soft plastics from a rock mark? Has anyone any experience of this.

Not sure... I've often though about it...
In fact I am thinking about giving baited hokkai's a go like a flapper with bling

Re: Cod with soft plastics.
one of the hot lures this year has been the Savage sand eel, this is a lead head which comes with a spare body/tail and comes in 15cm /23g , 16cm/42g and 20cm/70g, with a realistic swimming action they have accounted for many bass in the east cork area and in the last couple of months have also taken a few cod i am told. Myself i have used them from a boat and was impressed with them. http://www.savage-gear.com.

If you go onto the Sea Fishing on the Beara Peninsula Facebook page there is a photo diary there of Bart & Davey 2 Belgian anglers who were here recently. There are pics there of cod caught on soft plastics.
Live out on the beautiful Beara Peninsula. Always willing to assist visiting anglers.

Re: Cod with soft plastics.
Hi Willhands, targetting pollack a few weeks ago with a weighted rubber shad type thing I managed a nice wee codling of 1lb 12oz off the shore, if I were you I would give it a good trial, dont see why it shouldnt be productive if the cod in your swim as they say.
Had a dozen codling on a slowly fished white tandem fly off a beach at the end of August, they couldnt get enough of it, fished slowly on a sinking line right down on the sand. Been meaningto put a wee report of it up with pics but havent got round to it yet. fish from 1lb to 1lb 12oz. that was just the size that was in there chasing the sandeel, Im sure bigger fish would oblige if they were there.
I think slowly fished plastics should catch codling, cant see why not, might be surprisingly good?!
