Whenever I am not fishing I am always thinking where I would be fishing at that particular time...If that makes any sense??
So if I get the green light off the war office I am out the door and the plan is usually already laid out in the head based on conditions, tide etc

it depends on how far i am travelling
if its more than an hours drive ill plan it all out ahead
or if its on a whim its more likely ill go somewhere within a half hours drive but saying that ill still occasionally go further afield on a whim

Same here, I'll go out whenever I get a minute, and when I cant go, I search google maps for a possible "new" venue constantly thinking where I should go next, reading shore reports, lookin at tides (though latley Ive been missing every tide I wanted to fish Grrrrrr!!!!) and water marks, even water temps now. Then theres the "Feck this" moment load the rods in the car and hit the road, which lately has proved very well!! :o Its just a matter of getting out there

i decide i,m going anywhere from an hour to a week in advance ,i decide the venue two minutes before i leave after checking tides and wind direction ,i will look at conditions when i arrive and often end up going somewhere else depending on surf ect, sometimes the weather forecast isnt as accurate as we would like

Well for me the best way to do it is to plan it a few days in advance gives me time to get bait and check and service the reals and fit new hooks if need be.... but saying that if i get a phone call and I have bait in the fridge i will go on a whim and before going check the weather and tide time before i hit a beach or pier, not that I mind fishing in the rain.....
