instruction for beginners?

#1 Post by liam90 »

I have recently become interested in shore angling and I would like to give it a try. However, I don't know much about the types of reels, bait rigs, methods of casting, etc.

I am in the Dublin area. Does anyone here know of a tackle shop that offers sea angling courses for beginners? I think it would be fun to go out with a small group and have an instructor show us how to do it.

thanks,

Liam

I suggest you join a Sea Angling Club. All of the lads are very friendly and helpful and you learn everything what you need to know to get you into the game. Have a look here for a selection of clubs around Dublin:

Tight lines and enjoy the sport!

I am not from Dublin but when I am there and drop by Rory's tackle shop in temple bar street, i ssem to get good information and help from them. Why not try to drop by and see what you can learn from them on technique and possible marks.

Hey thanks for the info! That's exactly what I'm looking for. I kind of need a tutorial. You know, somebody to tell me what size multiplier reel to get, how to cast properly, etc. Much appreciated.

Hi folks, I'll just hijack Liam's thread to say hello! I'm another newbie and I've already found this thread and others on the forum very helpful.
Hopefully I'll be able to pick up some tips from you lot not just on catching but also on the do's and dont's of angler etiquette!
