Conger locations in cork

#1 Post by biker »

alright lads i just recently got into conger fishing and i really enjoy going after them, have tried some of the well known marks with some success, have tried ballycotton pier where my biggest was roughly 20lb ( safely returned )and unfortunately blanked in cobh possibly due to the massive amont of mackeral and other small fish in the water. would reallly appreciate any marks and can assure all congers will be returned, any pm's welcome

Ballycotton is an excellent mark with eels there to 40lb plus, Cobh is very hit and miss though there are some big eels there, A freind had one at New Ferry once by the pub.

No not the marina. The pier other side of the channel. Go from the Midleton roundabout out the Whitegate road about 2 miles and turn right to East Ferry. The pier is in from of Murphy’s Pub

i passed that pier last night and wondered about congers, you'd need a drop net id say as its high enough above the water

Not much need for a drop net just put on 30' of 70lb shock leader that will get any conger out of the water. Hand line it in.
If you fish Ballycotton in front of the ice plant you can beach the fish to your right hand side
