People:me willy beef carl brian

Duration:1600 to 1300 next day

Tide:out then in twice

Weather:mill pond humid

Bait:mackerel

Rigs:flappers/conger set up/fly rods

Results:pollack/mackerel/corkwing wrasse/ballin wrasse/conger/pouting

Report:headed to donegal for a change 3 hour drive wasnt to bad got there got the tents set up set the rods up and noticed a few sea trout cruising around the ledge we where going to fish off we tried sandeel patterns on the fly rods the big seatrout was following the imatations right in close but coming no closer than about 6 inches and then turning away nightmare.

We foul hooked a few sandeels on our mackerel traces and used them on the fly rods with pollack hittn them straight away unfortuantly when we had the fresh sandeels the seatrout had gone id say the big seatrout woulda nailed a live sandeel on the fly rod.

Congers there was plenty of them about we had about 8 between us willy beefs conger was the biggest at 15lb carl was catching wrasse with lugworm on the float i had conger and mackerel brian had pollack conger and mackerel was a marathon session but was good to get out id say there is congers alot bigger than 15lb pound here.

one thing was strange out at distance with the rock rods i didnt get a bite the whole time i was there all fish where caught close in. :)

Nice one Alan,

Nice conger pictured there, as for the sea trout, probably few things more attractive to those chaps than a live sandeel? Pity you didnt have the chance to stick one in their road with them havin cleared off at that stage.

What size do you reckon the bigger trout was?

Cathal.

(ps, the bro threw out a bubble float at Cdun one time with a strip of launce on a carp hook, first cast ever with the method, got a 3lb 2oz trout, he hasnt been able to repeat it, that was 2005)
2013 Sea Species:- Bass, Flounder, 5 Beard Rockling, Shore Rockling, Whiting, red gurnard, grey gurnard, Pollack, coley, mackerel, sea trout, cant remember cos I didn't update at the time.....
2012 Sea species:- Pollack, Coley, Mackerel, Cod, Bass, Sea Trout, Haddock, Plaice, Dab, Flounder, Red Gurnard, Grey Gurnard, Pouting, Whiting, Corkwing Wrasse, Ballan Wrasse, Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Brown Trout caught on beach.
2011 Sea species:- codling, L.S. dogfish, coley, whiting, pollack(4lb 3oz), sea trout, shore conger eel (15lb), ballan wrasse, grey gurnard, plaice, dab (and lobster).

Alright cathal hows the form we ll prob be round your way friday night. There where 3 or 4 sea trout patroling the cove and ledge the biggest one id say and im pretty good at judging weight well so say my mates about 8lb and the other few 4 lb 3lb and 2lb they where patrolling the area as they knew that sandeel shoals where making apperances close in.

Yea its just a shame the trout had gone when the sandeels moved in yea cathal big pollack and sea trout love nothing more than a niclely precented live sand eel as id say you well know the takes are verocious lol
