fished a rocky mark tday with a cheapo plug..... nabbed 3 beautiful ballans on a green/black/yellow sub surface pattern...is this normal behaviour for ballans...new experience for me

Most people wouldn't cast a nice shiny expensive plug into the sorts of places that big wrasse reside. I'm just back from Brittany where a lot of the locals catch Wrasse on soft plastic lures fished tight into the weed.

thanx nobuzz.....curiously enough the plug i used was bought in france...€1 from decathalon sports i think....there was no real danger of losing it as the fish attacked close to the ledge in clear ground we were fishing over. pretty exciting to see them emerge and hammer into it.
caught a lovely bass the same session...fought like a mad thing.
it's just i always targetted wrasse with bait previously, i suppose it makes sense, especially the bigger ones would also take smaller fish too. i will be trying it out again soon.
