ennereilly last night

#1 Post by marklocko »

me and a mate

too still for my liking

Best of both sides

rag crab

2 hook flaper

One big fat 0

Fished Ennereilly last night from 00.30 time of line in the water till 5.30 time line out tide was in about 3.20ish high tide. there was me and a mate two rods, and there was two other lads there with 2 rods each total of 6 rods. They were there before we started and stayed after we left. Up till the time we left there was one pup hound caught out of 6 rods not a dab or a dog.... :?: its the first night i have ever gone out and caught nothing...  one of the lads who was fishing there thinks its the weather that its too cold for this time of year I think i was too still of a night what do you think?

Unlucky but i would say the Neap tides had the biggest bearing on the lack of fish

Last time i fished Ennereilly it was on the Spring tide and it produced the goods

Btw How far were you casting/Can you put a bait out at range?

Howya
I've fished Ennerielly a fair bit, with a few all night sessions there, but have always found that no matter what weather or state of tide, the fishing always dies a death there around 1 am. Also I make sure to bring a macarel with me as that has proved a blank saver on more thn 1 occasion

What effect does the neap tide have on fish ? or does it just effect ennereilly??

Scent of the bait doesn't wash as far to attract fish

I have found neaps to be less productive over many trips so i concentrate my efforts on the Springs

and the neap tide would explain why the water was so still. with the sun pushing and the moon pulling = very little current. well mightnt of caught any thing but i have learned something. how far out would you cast for that spot

Using 1 hook clipped down i would pop it out about 120ish but i would drop a second rod in close

But you would catch at 80 as well

Just one of those sessions were things went against you

Try again at the end of the month and id say you will notice a big difference 30th and 31st look 2 nice tides to fish from 8 pm to 2 am

I'd say the northerly winds were more the problem last night.

I was on the south beach, I prefer the south beach because i can drive on to the beach and that hole stretch of road is Notorious for cars geting broke theres glass from brittas bay the hole way up and down..

Id say the nort beach could produce some nice flat fish as i have often caught flat fish in rivers

I fished south of the river, to be honest I didnt know there was a river until just now.

My spot was maybe 300m left of where you come on to the beach at the barrier.

I have put up my first report yehaa! :D
