People:me and the nephew
Date :19-7-11
Venue:buncrana pier again
Duration:5 hrs
Tide:flooding, then first hour of drop
Weather:started windy and a bit of rain but settled into a very nice night
Bait:mackerel and sandeel
Rigs:3/0 pulley and 2/0 long and low
Results:me one doggie, and yes the nephew kicked my butt he ended up with 4 doggies
Report:headed to the pier for a spot of easy fishing, health not great so a handy spot is called for these days. Found the place jamed packed with kids and summer anglers. Set up the nephew and befor he could cast out a line of seat appeared where we entended to fish, not a bother to me I just outcast them, let the nephew fish while i set up, didnt fish as was too busy watching the attemps at casting. Some of the kids where learning and some of the adults where not that great either, a few crossed lines, well alot of crossed lines, nephews included, but he soon had the last laught by bringing a nice doggie. Once the light begain to fail and the rain came the place begain to quiet down and the nephew had anther dog, so i cast out my rig and feed the crabs for an hour. A few mackerel where landed and doggies where killed and a nice ray was taken home, it was to be eaten so hopefully it was enjoyed or else its was just a waste. Once it got dark we got some room and moved into a bit of space and the nephew had the chance to cast for himself, didnt get far and tigthened the line and was into another doggie, jammy wee git so with the pressure on i started to panic, i couldnt blank, bad enough i was getting beaten by my young apprenice, my saving grace was 15 minutes from the end when i swung in a nice doggie. Rebaited the nephew and he chucked out again and i started to pack up. I didnt even get a chance to put the rod away when he had another dog on the pier, thankfully that was the last of the bait and he could get anymore after all 4-1 to him meant he took the victory wispa and bragging rigths. If it was for the lack of bait and an early start we would have stayed longer as it was turning into a very nice night, no photos as we all know what doggies look like, besides i forgot the camera, again.
