Wexford marks Sunday, 17 July

People: Me and Al
Duration: All day
Tide: Up and then down

Weather: Heavy gales

Bait: Lug, rag and mackrel strip

Results: Good

Report: Al and I had planned to go out off Bulloc Harbour but the gales put paid to those plans. Decided to hit the N8 and landed at our first pier mark at high water at about 9am. First up was a nice sized gurnard from the inner bay for Al. Then it was a small flat for him. They were taken on rag. I then got a sound bite and reeled in a small dog using mackerel strip. Tried a bit of feathering but no joy. Al then got stuck into another two baby flats before I hauled in two more small sized doggies.
We upped rods and hit our second mark and set up our stands on the beach. Fished about three hours here into low water. Al hauled in two nice sized strip ells.
End of the day’s fishin’ and came away happy enough with the four species.
One more cast and I'll be off
