Hi Ray, sorry that it has been a while, congrats on the lure caught Bass, a surface popper at that. If you know the lure retrieving technique called "walk the dog" which you probably already apply, you have an excuse right there when the other half catches you out. You can just say, "I wasn't lying, here it is, walking the dog, or lure as it is otherwise know to us fishermen". One to keep in mind.
