Water depth and feature info?

Just wondering is there anywhere that you can find the water depth and features for certain areas?

Was told to check out this site but cant seem to find what im looking for.

Would love to know how deep some marks are and what the ground is like etc. if possible?

Try a yaght club or seaside pub there cud be a chart framed on the wall

niceone that could be an option alright.

seen this but not sure how well it would work maybe in a lake or something.

I've had a few looks for such maps in the past and the best I can find (for free) are these: (see below). The maps of Dublin Bay might be the most useful. It's interesting to see the deepest water to the east of Dalkey Island and Howth and then long (green) sand-bank outside the mouth of the bay. The position of ship-wrecks might also be interesting for those looking to catch conger and um...other fish that apparently like ship-wrecks (I don't really have a baldy). I don't think the depth maps get much more detailed than this at the moment. I might try to overlay the depth map with the wreck map sometime but if anyone is a whizz with graphics you might as well give it a bash and stick it up here.

Admiralty charts are the way to go i'd say. You can get them in any good chandlery shops. I got one for cork harbour and find it very useful.

The best thing to do is put up a few place names here. If there are fished a lot then most posters would have a good idea of the depths and dangers.

For fishing rocky ground of unknown depths, cast out a lead first and count how long it takes the lead to hit the bottom.

When you cast out your rig, stop it short of the count. That should keep you off the bottom and out of any snag.

Howye nemo,a buddy of mine bought one of them sonar things a lidle version set it up thought he was the man ,he cast it out ,when reeling in seemed to be working ok,next thing up comes a huge pollack hits the beeper and breaks the line I nearly wet myself laughin,then to cap it all off it floated in under us out of reach pleanty of slagging all day for our tackle tart buddy
