Shore Angling West Clare - July 1st and 3rd 2011

Duration: 1st July 2 hrs
3rd July 3 hrs

Tide:Always early flood

Weather: Warm, westerly, swell

Bait: Crab, shrimp


Results:

1 st July 19 Ballan Wrasse rock mark near Doonbeg crab and shrimp

3 rd July 6 Ballan Wrasse outer mark Bridges of Ross crab and shrimp
4 Ballan Wrasse inner mark all on shrimp including this specimen of 4.75 lbs.

A lot of shrimp went into my crab pot so i experimented with them!

8) Well done Bill, lovely Wrasse, did you freeline the shrimp? Going out on a trip to the bay tomorrow, hope to pick up a few decent ones too :)

Not freelined, on a short dropper 2 ft. above weight. Going to experiment with imitation crabs and shrimp next!

Penn Viper - adjustable reel seat. I like it for Wrasse, Ray, Huss.

That's a fine haul of wrasse. I'd say you've tired arms after those few sessions. Well done on the specimen. Lovely fish.
Species 2014: whiting, coalie, pouting, codling, pollack, ballan wrasse, dab, poor cod, mackerel, grey gurnard, conger, ling, cuckoo wrasse, launce, common skate, bass, scad, garfish, blue shark

Species 2015: Ballan wrasse, poor cod, pollack, ling, flounder, turbot, mackerel, whiting, lsd, dab, grey gurnard, pouting, cuckoo wrasse, cod

At one time the adjustable reel seats were available from Veals mail order but they seem to have stopped stocking them now and have gone back to the Penn Talon style reel seat.

Amazing result on an experimental bait, brilliant.
2013 Sea Species:- Bass, Flounder, 5 Beard Rockling, Shore Rockling, Whiting, red gurnard, grey gurnard, Pollack, coley, mackerel, sea trout, cant remember cos I didn't update at the time.....
2012 Sea species:- Pollack, Coley, Mackerel, Cod, Bass, Sea Trout, Haddock, Plaice, Dab, Flounder, Red Gurnard, Grey Gurnard, Pouting, Whiting, Corkwing Wrasse, Ballan Wrasse, Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Brown Trout caught on beach.
2011 Sea species:- codling, L.S. dogfish, coley, whiting, pollack(4lb 3oz), sea trout, shore conger eel (15lb), ballan wrasse, grey gurnard, plaice, dab (and lobster).
