Even the smaller Wrasse will put up a good scrap on light gear! Where I fish a good Wrasse would be 3 lbs or over but I have caught them up to 6 lbs.
Never seen a 6lber, never even seen a specimen but I know they are here. It would take stopping other types of fishing, very hard to do, and focussing on them to get the better fish, but they are there, plenty of the right habitat. A charter boat skipper got several specimens (so he told me) one day last September very close to here.
You have some good fishing there where you are in Clare.
