Mayo/Galway 25th & 26th

#1 Post by Al »

People:Day one myself...day two myself and the missus

Duration:1.5 hours day one. two hours day 2

Tide:dropping

Weather:meh

Bait:sandeel & mac

Rigs:loop rigs

Results:Doggies day 1 & Doggies, whiting, gurnard and Ray day two.

Report:
Went to westport with the missus and her family for the weekend and brought along the gear to sneak out for a quick session. Fished a Mayo mark just outside westport on Saturday for an hour and a half, I would have fished longer but Dinner was booked and I left the smokes in the car  Noel and Brian had sent me a Pm about this mark and it sounded good so I gave it bash, unfortunately the tide wasn't the best with me fishing just before low water. I managed 5 dogs, no ray or huss but at least I didn't blank. I reckon fishing this mark from Low water up would give you a chance a some good fishing will defo try it again, cheers again to all the lads who sents Pm's ;)

Day 2:
I decided to fish a Galway mark that i'm familiar with on the way home. Aoife was grand as long as she could take some photos so happy days :D It was lashing so fair play to her for staying out! Used a loop and then a pulley, First cast had a doggie and a nice size whiting....blank avoided already which was good, Missed another doggie bite second cast so I changed from the pully to another loop rig. About 15 mins into the 3rd cast I had the unmistakable pull down of a ray and I wasn't mistaken as I brought in a Thornie of about 3lb or so. Had 2 or 3 more cast after this and had more decent whiting and a small tub gurnard. Packed up as I had the drive to Dublin :( Not bad for two short sessions and I finally got my first Ray of the year...they haven't been playing ball on the east coast so far.

Will stick up a few picks in the next day or two!
Cheers again to all the lads who sent the Pm's 8)
