North Wexford Beach-19/06/11

#1 Post by Al »

People:MySelf & GarF

Duration:3Hrs

Tide:rising

Weather:Mild

Bait:Liquid rag,One horrible refrozen black coloured Crab and sandeel and Mac

Rigs:2 hook loop rigs and flappers for Garf

Results:Doggies, Flounders, Whiting, Pup smoothies and Finally one decent smoothie

Gar rang me last night hung over and wanted to get out for a few hours to clear his head. So he got the smelliest rag and the finest refrozen baits out of his freezer, it was certainly a treat for the nostril's, reminded me of mark beatty god bless him.
Hopes were'nt high with our selection of different mushy baits, but we still thought we'd still scratch out a few fish. Fish were coming regularly enough with pup hounds, doggies, whiting and flounder being caught for the first 2 hours. I found a horrible re-re-refrozen crab at the bottom of the bag and whipped it on to the hook with some of the fizzy green rag and within 10 mins had a lovely drop back bite and grabbed the rod. Reeled in with the fish making it easy for me as he came towards me and then putting up a fight close in and running left up the Beach, was happy to have my first hound of arounf 5/6lb on the beach nearly 3 months later than last year, oh yeah there was also a doggie on the bottom hook  Another session will be on the cards soon with fresh bait this time around...maybe

I'll stick some photos up later for Roger and eye's before they become upset.

Nice one lads. Similar situation on Saturday. Just one decent one showed. Did yis get much dogs? They seem to be feeding heavy at the moment. Had about 20 over the weekend alone...

There wasn't too many dogs to tell ya the truth which was strange, usually i've been getting dogs and double dogs a cast of this beach, so it was a nice of them to let another species have a go for once. I was hedging my bets and trying for ray on the bottom hook too, I thought the lack of dogs might put me in with a chance...I think I had 5 ray this time last year but none so far yet...need a nice spell of settled weather to be in with a better chance.
