SWFF North Down 26/06/11

#1 Post by johncodown »

People:Me

Venue:Orlock & Dee

Duration:6pm till 11pm

Tide:Flood

Weather:Cloudy and Warm gusty southerly

Flys:Clousers,Rays,charlies and sandeel patterns

Results:a few small pollack and one decent hook up

Report:Headed out last night for a recky along the north down coast started at orlock and walked to sandeel bay looking for any decent looking spots to chuck a fly there were quite a few people fishing along the coast so things looked promising until the "havent caught a thing all day "response came from all that I talked to :? anyways walked on round to sandeel bay and fished for 2 hours with not even a hint of a fish a move was in order and found another wee rock on the way back to the car had a bit of fun with 6 inch pollack for a while  , Decided to go for a drive and found a beach just before the golf course which looked like it might provide a fish or two there were a few seals moving about the boulders and the gulls were feeding so I gave it a chuck with the biggest sandeel pattern I could find several cast later I hit a good fish which took line and then spat the hook :( :( tried on until dark without any more takes, fishing was very poor to say the least..

hard luck john. my mate was drifting from groomsport towards briggs bouhy in his boat at the weekend and had pretty much the same luck as yourself. fishing was patchy at best and down right terrible at worst
