North Antrim Coast "panic Stations" 26/06/11

#1 Post by fishermandan007 »

Report:Headed down the north coast today, weather was great, very little breeze, landed at the cushendal , tried the jetty as the rocks to both sides were well taken up. For the second week running Adrian was just in the water when he landed a Pollack using mackerel, 2 mins later he threw out a spinning rod and straight away another 2 Pollack, and yet again totally unbelievable casted out again and got himself another 2 Pollack, totally unreal, it then became a battle for not winning the wooden spoon! After hour and a half we moved as we just didn’t have the room, so went round the coast abit and put the rods backout, very very little happening at first, the boys were panicking about the "blank", as time went on abit, there still wasn’t abit at all, until Coiley hooked into one but loosed it right at the edge of the water, very funny I thought after him sitting crying a fish in. anyways as the tide started to drop I at last and much to my delight I landed a doggie the blank saved (well by me any) then I landed my second using a string of beads with squid and mackerel, Connor soon landed his first fish of the day, again a doggie, and as he saved the blank he packed the gear away and pulled out a fly rod, didn’t know whether to laugh or what, but anyways 30 mins later he hooked a small Pollack on it claiming it to be brilliant via the light tackle, brendy soon landed his doggie wrapped up by Adrian with a doggie and his 6th fish of the day, again with the mulit coloured beads with mackerel and squid..Bout 10ish we packed up leaving jamesy with the wooden spoon and the good old blank, in all it’s was a good day, good laugh, roll on next week a weekender in Donegal! Can’t wait....

fair play to ya's for not giving up and moving about until you found the fish. that can be a dodgey oul spot to fish from thow with the way those wee scroats race round there in the cars    i'd be on the other side of the wall as some of those wee "r" plate idiots have'nt got an ounce of driving sense or skill hammering round there :!:
in saying that i have seen some big 5lb+ pollock taken from there in the height of the summer  :P just a pity none showed for you on the day, but then there is the rest of the summer to go yet  :D :D

your right mate, i cant understand why the cops dont have a speed trap there, or why theres even no sign to say slow down, not sure if any of them politicians use this sight but if they do then take note, some sort of traffic calming measure is def required there,im not even sure if it would be ilegal if som1 were to make a home made sign saying slowing down and put it up , iv also seen nice pollack taken from there mate, but that were a year or 2 back if im honest...

lads i'd certainly have to agree with these two posts.
thats no way to be releasing fish back into the sea - theres a very good chance you have killed those fish throwing them from there.
and you are taking your life in your hands fishing from on the road there - best on the other side of the wall - somebody will come racing round that corner not expecting to see yous there. and if they dont panic, swerve and hit yous, then theyll swerve and hit another car.
i hate being a kill-joy but im sure yous will know where im coming from...
looks like yous were havin great craic all the same. ive had a few decent plaice form there. better luck next time :!:
cheers
Charlie
